Twitter this, Twitter that, Is Twitter really the new form of pop culture communication? In all honesty, I’m not a twitter fan, nor will I ever join the trend of posting up what I’m doing at that given moment. Twitter is changing the way the world learns its news as well as keeping people informed on what’s going on in their community. This is evident in the case with what’s going on overseas. In Iran, The Iranians are using twitter to share information about protest that is going to be held around Tehran. In order to stop this, Jared Cohen a State department official from the Obama administration asked Twitter to delay maintenance of its global network in order to cut off services to the Iranians. Since June 2009, Iran has been going through struggles over the result of a presidential election. As per request, Twitter put off its upgrade until late Tuesday afternoon because it seems that twitter really is that popular. Who ever thought that the Iranians would be blogging about protests? Nobody really knows the future with this moment to moment, instant style blogging; But the United State’s government understands the role of twitter in the world. It’s now scary to think that no information will be sacred. I think the internet should have a new motto. “The internet never forgets”. Well until the government shuts it down…
